Travel | Universal, Orlando!
I’ve never been a rollercoaster fan, I don’t like the feeling of dropping in my stomach, so before we went to Universal I didn’t really know what to expect, I knew there was big rollercoasters there but I was a bit worried there would be nothing I’d go on! I didn’t want to be that person who was missing out on all the fun stood holding peoples bags etc! I didn’t go on anything super big! The hulk was closed when we went, I don’t think I could put myself through the terror haha!
I was a big fan of the simulator rides whilst I was there, they were great! Especially The Simpsons one, we went on that quite a lot as it was a good laugh! Transformers was another good one too, it’s crazy how it can make it feel so realistic, I sometimes found myself closing my eyes when things looked like they were jumping on the front of the car you were sat in! Haha.
On our first day when we were in Island of Adventures, Will and his family managed to get me on the Jurassic Park ride, from what Will had told me, I knew it was some sort of log flume thing, so I wasn’t too keen to go on it, but we were wet from the rain anyway so if I was going to go on it, that seemed like the best time! I think I swallowed most of the water at the end of that drop, and the bar didn’t fully close so I flung out of my seat, haha! Oh I would definitely recommend going on The Mummy too! Another one I didn’t want to go on because Will told me it was really scary but I actually enjoyed it because it wasn’t as bad as I expected, it’s just the fact it’s in the dark and you can’t tell where you’re really going!
I could literally go on about Universal all day but I want to get to my favourite part, Harry Potter! It was the one part that I was most excited for, I’ve always loved Harry Potter and couldn’t wait to see it all in Universal. Those of you who’ve never been to Universal before, there’s two parks, Island of Adventure and Universal Studios. They have Hogsmeade in Island of Adventures where you get to see Hogwarts. It’s so amazing, I felt like a kid again! Then they have Diagon Alley in Universal Studios (complete with a fire breathing dragon!). You can access both areas by riding the Hogwarts Express which connects both parks which is really good if you want to keep the Harry Potter theme going! Haha
So, there’s the two main Harry Potter rides, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey! I can’t decide between them which was my favourite because they were both very different and both the best rides I have ever been on! Haha.
So the Forbidden Journey is in Island of Adventures and it inside Hogwarts, so whilst you’re queuing for the ride, you actually get to walk around on a tour. I don’t think we ever queued for longer than 20 minutes, and saying that, you spend most of the time just walking to the actual ride! It’s been really cleverly done, and on the ride you basically get to fly around on a broomstick, play quidditch, see the dragon, dementors, etc! It’s SO much fun, especially when you feel like you’re flying, haha!
Escape from Gringotts, this one always had a really long wait time, I did nearly chicken out going on it as well, haha, they described it as a “high speed rollercoaster that spins, drops, accelerates…” yeah.. haha. This one is inside Gringotts, as you could probably tell! So you get to go through the bank, and get put in this lift that takes you down to the ride where you’re loaded onto the carts like in the film. This is a 3D ride so you have your glasses and you get wet! When the ride first starts and they discover Gringotts has been broken into, the track you’re on lowers itself and has you hanging for a few seconds, oh my word, I would have loved to see my face when I looked at Will! Hahaha, you then go onto trying to escape, I don’t want to give it all away but it’s a must if you go! It’s quite fast in some places and jolts you around but that’s all part of the fun!
Me and Will both bought wands each when we were there too, although we did go through the wrong entrance and Will had the wand keeper pick him a wand like they did with Harry in the first movie, haha, I wish I was allowed to film it, his face was a picture! When she found the wand for him, a light was shining down on him!
Anyway, I think it’s probably clear Harry potter was my favourite part of Universal, they were building King Kong when we were there so it would be good to go back and see what that is like! 🙂
Definitely having major holiday blues now, and sorry for the very long post, but definitely try go to Universal, Orlando! It’s so good!
Have you ever been? What’s your favourite ride? 🙂
