Just before New Year we went on a little break away to Center Parcs! We visited our favourite one, Sherwood Forest near Nottingham. I’ve been going here since I was 11 weeks old and I’ll never get bored of it!
Our break was classed as a pre new year break on their website, and we spent 3 nights there (27th-30th December). In total there was 6 of us so we had a 3 bedroom woodland lodge villa. There are different types of villas they have which you can choose from, we tend to stay in the Executive woodland lodge usually just because it comes with en suites in every bedroom, wifi etc, but as it was over the Christmas period it was just way too expensive but this one was just as lovely!
The aim of this little break was just to relax and have some family time as we’d all had a busy few months. We arrived lunch time on December 27th and as you couldn’t check into your villa until 3pm we decided to head to the Foresters Inn for some lunch as we knew the swimming pool would be really busy with it being change over day.
Over the next few days of our holiday we went swimming usually on a morning so that we could grab some seats as we found there wasn’t enough for the volume of people (this could just be because it was the holidays). On the first night we did go swimming when it was dark though which I highly recommend as it looks really pretty with all of the lights! We also went bowling one night before we went out for a meal which are a laugh!
Whilst we were there we also ate at Hucks, the Pancake house and ordered from Dining In (their takeaway). My favourite was Hucks as the burgers were great and portion sizes were good, but we had trouble getting a table booked as every restaurant was fully booked unless you were happy to eat about 8/9pm which we had to do. We felt it was worth it though! I liked the pancake house too, I had the maple syrup american ones, mmm!
They also had fireworks on the Tuesday night which we thought were really good as we were told there wasn’t going to be any, so we were pleased with that 🙂
Overall, we were very happy with our little break, and are thinking of doing the same again between Christmas and New Year this year, it’s just a shame that they make the prices so extortionate when it’s the holidays as it’s a great place for families.
Have you ever been? If you have, which is your favourite? 🙂
