Travel | New York Day 4

February 10, 2016

Hello Everyone!

So we are now onto day 4, which is half way through our trip, boo! I hope you’re enjoying reading about my trip here, I’m quite enjoying this blogging everyday!

Today is pancake day, so obviously we wanted to try out some proper American pancakes! When we got up we did a little research to see where people recommended and the most votes were the Clinton Street Baking Company. Fortunately this was in the direction we were planning on heading anyway so it seemed like a winner! We did see a lot of people mention it gets really busy there, some people having to wait over an hour for a table! Luckily we got a table straight away but a queue soon started going out of the door. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and Will ordered the blueberry ones. They were yummy but too much for us so we ended up leaving some! I think they cost $15 each which when you think of it in pounds, it’s not bad at all.

Next stop was to get the water taxi so we could go look at the Statue of Liberty. When we got there we were told they weren’t sure if they were cancelling the next boat, not sure why! So we wondered around for 45 mins or so. Eventually they decided to send out a different one and it lasted about an hour which was quite good too. We didn’t get to stop at the island but we weren’t too bothered because we got to see it for quite some time on the boat and managed to take some snaps! Only thing was it was SO cold! We wanted to be on the top outside to get the best view, but once we started moving the wind chill definitely hit us. The picture doesn’t look as great though because it was quite dull, but it was still lovely to go look!

We headed to the One World Trade Center next as we wanted to go up the observatory yesterday but with the weather being a bit snowy the view was restricted. It was quite cloudy today but it seemed like it was the best time for us to go and it was so worth it! The ticket was $32 per adult, we didn’t think this was too bad because of the view that you got. You get put into an elevator with screens all around it which show a video whilst you’re going up to the 102nd floor. Yes the 102nd floor, CRAZY! I think it said it takes you up in 60 seconds as well! Once you get up there you’re shown another video which is about 2 minutes long. After that finishes you then get to enter the observatory but strangely that’s on the 100th floor (I think!), so you drop back down again haha. The views were incredible. I like how you can spend as long as you like up there too. It’s a full 360 degrees view of the city so it’s amazing.

After that we decided to pop back to the hotel as my camera needed charging, it was nearing tea time by this point too so thought we would decide where we fancied going whilst the camera charged as well. After having a quick look on Twitter I realised it’s national pizza day. My all time favourite food. So for the second time this week we went and got pizza again, but not the giant one like on Sunday haha! We did go out for a wonder around before getting that though, so by the time we’d finished it we decided to just spend the rest of the night watching American TV. Oh and we did spend a good hour watching the 4 fire engines rush to the block of apartments across the street! Still no idea what was going on..

More photos..

Hope you enjoyed todays post! Day 5 will be up about the same time tomorrow! 🙂
