Hello Everyone!

As some of you may have seen on my Instagram or Twitter, Me and Will have just been for a little bank holiday weekend break to London. We went to see Wicked on Saturday night which was amazing and did the usual shopping and having a look around. It was nice to get away and we were very lucky with the weather as it feels like winter today!

We booked our favourite London hotel for our trip, Citizen M, London Bankside. We discovered this hotel chain a couple of years ago and loved how quirky and bright it looked so gave it a go and now we are hooked! They seem to be quickly expanding too which is good! They have hotels Amsterdam, New York, Paris, Glasgow and we just saw their hotel at the Tower of London is due to open this summer too so we are definitely going to be visiting there!

Citizen M London Bankside is located in Southwark, about a 5-7 minute walk from Southwark tube station. The location is great as it’s so close to all the main sights and often we found ourselves walking to places rather than getting the tube as the areas really nice.

Check in is from 2pm but if they have rooms available beforehand, you’re able to check in early with no extra charge which I think is great. If this isn’t possible, they have really good baggage storage which we have been happy to use on many occasions which is really secure. Check in itself is really easy, you do it all yourself, but there’s a member of staff there to help if you’re struggling. You create your own room card, and are given a room number.

The lobby offers plenty of comfy seating, desks so you can get on with any work you may have to do and also power sockets so you’re able to charge laptops etc. There’s a bar with reasonably priced drinks and also food available. If it’s a nice day there’s also a lovely outside courtyard with pretty lights hanging down which some rooms have a view of. You’ll also see the really nice staircase which is one of the first things that we saw when we first looked at the hotel online.

Going up to your room, once you enter the lift you have to scan your room key, which is also another thing I like as it makes you feel secure! You then walk out of the lift to a view over the courtyard.

Once you get to your room, the first thing your attention is drawn to is the size of the bed! Oh my word, it’s the biggest and most comfy bed I have ever slept in ever. I wish every time I could bring it home with me. I love the really large window as well, complete with privacy shade and blackout blind – bonus for these bright mornings! I think this is good as you can still have a lovely bright room but with the privacy of others not being able to see in. The toilet and rainfall shower are in its own little pod with the sink just outside and a fridge which has some drinks in and fruit bars which are all free. The pod is made from frosted glass, which isn’t see through but there’s also a curtain that you can pull across to separate that half of the room.

One of my favourite features of this hotel is the fact everything in the room is powered by an iPad, so the Tv, blinds, lights, temperature.. it’s great! You’re able to change the colour of the lights which are in the shower pod and there’s also different lighting moods you can use, for example movie, business, party etc. I think it’s really cool. You also have a wide range of free movies you can choose from, a lot of them being recent DVD releases which we enjoyed watching after a long days walking around London! The wifi is also free throughout the hotel, so no need to worry about having to pay extra for it, it’s super fast as well!

Some would say the rooms are small, but I think it’s a perfect size for 2 people as there’s a large drawer under the bed where you can put your cases along with shelves for other items, so you’re never stepping over everything. The hotel is spotless, you are able to have your room cleaned and towels changed each day. All of the staff are very polite and would go out and beyond to help if needed which is really nice.

We think the hotel is very reasonably priced especially for the location and for the quality of stay you get and the fact it’s not your usual hotel makes it that bit more special. I can’t wait to visit again and if you’re planning a trip to London anytime soon, I recommend you check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

Thank you for another fantastic stay Citizen M, we will be back soon!

Pretty sure my cousin stayed here earlier in the year and she loved it too. Dying to see Wicked, missed it last time I was In London.

This looks like the dream place for someone that’s a lover of art, design or architecture – that staircase is AMAZING. I love the fact they’re up to date with technology as well, it really sounds like a great place to stay. Hope you enjoyed Wicked? I’m hoping to go and watch it with my mum and sister soon! xxx
