Buying a Redrow Home

Belgrave

Hi Everyone!

So as many of you may have already seen a few weeks ago, Will and myself are in the process of buying our very first home together.

We had been looking at different options of what we could get in our budget for a while now, after hearing that the Redrow development near us were going to be releasing some smaller homes we decided to wait it out and see what happened. Just as we were about to give up waiting for them, they finally released them! We were so excited and worried that they’d get reserved so quickly we rushed to the sales office and were first to reserve on the development haha! Quickly after that all of the homes started to sell with them being ideal for first time buyers!

Belgrave

We originally were only looking to get a 2 bedroom home, but we managed to get a 3 bedroom end terrace in our budget which means we don’t need to worry about outgrowing the house too quickly. The house we have bought is called The Belgrave, which is part of Redrow’s new Regent Collection. I really love the look of the home as it looks so much better than I imagined as we reserved off plan with no idea of what it was going to look like!

The reservation process was really easy, just took a while to go through all of the paperwork! We had to out a £500 hold fee down on the house, which then allowed us 42 days to get a mortgage and everything else sorted. A lot of that time is just a waiting game to see if everything goes to plan – definitely gave me plenty of sleepless nights! Haha. Once we got our mortgage offer and help to buy we were able to exchange contracts – exciting but scary! 🙂

Kitchen

Yesterday we had our options meeting, where we were able to choose what our kitchen was going to look like, what bathroom tiles we would like etc. When we first looked around the show home of one of the bigger houses we immediately fell in love with the kitchen. Although it’s a different layout, we really liked the idea of the white cabinets with the random silver oak wood and white worktops. You are also able to go onto what is basically an online shop called MyRedrow, where you can add things from a built in wardrobe to bed side tables and pay for it all on there so your house can be pretty much finished once you move in!

At the moment our house is due to have the roof fitted in the next few weeks! Completely crazy as we had a site visit beginning of July when it was just pretty much foundations. Once the roof is on and scaffolding has come down we will be able to go have another look! I want to see how big our garden is as on the site plan it looks a decent size!

We have started our own little Instagram page which we are keeping updated, feel free to follow us, it’s @ourredrowhome

That’s pretty much where we are now with our little house journey. Make sure you watch this space for updates! At the moment we are just buying bits here and there, using Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration!

Oh wow, how exciting!! Me and my boyfriend bought out first house together just before Christmas last year. I really know what you mean, the entire process we seemed to be waiting around for answers/returned paper work etc so it’s pretty nervey but so so worth it! And your house looks beautiful so you will have a wonderful time at the end of this long process! Good luck and keep us updated! PS I have just followed the Insta! XX

Aw really? We are hoping ours goes to plan and we get to move in before Christmas because we’d like to have our own tree haha! I bet it’s great having somewhere that’s your own. Hoping all this stress is worth it! Can’t wait for it to be finished and share the journey with everyone reading my blog 🙂 Thanks for following! I followed you back on my normal Insta! 🙂 xx

    Hi Sophie,

How did everything go with your home purchase in the end? It all sounds really exciting.

Did you have any trouble with the build etc?

Hi Matthew – Sorry for the delay responding, my emails don’t seem to tell me when i have comments anymore! Everything went great! You will always have the odd snag, like we had a scratched sink but Redrow soon fixed that! They’ve been great 🙂 Build quality for us seems great as well!
