2016 Highlights!

December 31, 2016

I can’t believe we are at the end of 2016 already! I know a lot of people have said the same, but it really has flashed before my eyes!

I thought it would be nice to do another highlight post of the year as quite a lot has happened this year for me, and I enjoy reading what other people have got up to over the year as well.

The year started off a bit sad, I had to sell my beloved car, Luigi! This was quite a spontaneous decision one weekend.. I was undecided whether or not to change it for something else, maybe a newer 500, but after looking around I decided to get rid of having a car completely. This allowed me to save my money up as I wasn’t driving it enough anyway as I was getting the bus into work and then using Will’s car on weekends!

New York

On a happier note, February myself and Will set off on an adventure to New York! I blogged everyday of this trip, took so many pictures and ate more pizza than I could have ever imagined! It was absolutely amazing. It was very cold, but totally worth it. We spent a week there and did everything we wanted to do, this then added to my obsession with America, so we are hoping we can afford a trip over there next year!

If you want to find out what we got up to in NYC, here’s the travel summary of my favourite bits! There’s also days 1-7 which are more detailed which you can find on my blog too! 🙂

May bank holiday weekend, Will and I headed down to London for a little city break. We both love it there so try and go once a year. We went to see Wicked which was fantastic,  did a bit of shopping and had a little wander around taking pictures.

June, we reserved our first home. This was a very strange month. We’d discussed buying a house many times, and were in the process of saving up for one. The Redrow development in our area opened up but was only the larger homes completely out of our budget. We wanted to wait for the smaller homes to be released which didn’t look like it was going to happen, so on the train back from London, both agreed to leave it for a couple of years and book a trip to Orlando for 2017. Luckily we didn’t! A few days after we got back from London they released the houses we were after! We were very lucky to get a bigger house than planned in our budget as well.

You can find a post from our journey to moving in here.

Whilst having the madness of getting everything sorted for a house, we went on a few holidays with family. These were booked way before reserving the house so luckily we were still able to go and enjoy some sunshine in Majorca and Fuerteventura before becoming proper adults with bills to pay! It was nice to be able to have some time with family.

Redrow Belgrave

After a 6 month wait, which felt like 5 minutes! We then moved into our little home! That was the proudest day of my life. Never this time last year did I think me and Will would be homeowners. We are absolutely over the moon, decorating our first christmas tree and making a house into our own home is brilliant. There’s still plenty to do but we are getting there thanks to all of our family. 🙂

There was then Christmas, my favourite time of year! We spent this with both families and also had a mini get away break to Center Parcs pre new year which was nice! We’ve eaten far too much food, and there’s still so many sweets to eat, so healthy eating can start eventually! Haha 🙂

2016 has been a crazy year, spent with my favourite family and friends and I can’t wait to see what the next year will bring, I wish you all a happy and healthy 2017!

Share some of your highlights in the comments, I love to see what you’ve all been up to!
