Settling into our Redrow Home!

January 22, 2017

So we’ve been in our little Redrow home just over a month already! In some ways it feels like 5 minutes but in others it seems like we’ve been here forever. We’ve had a very busy January trying to get the house sorted and also being back at work, but we have settled in now and are absolutely loving being home owners!

I thought you’d like to see some photos of how the house is looking 1 month on from it being an empty shell, to us now putting our own stamp on it and making it all homely. We’ve decided to go for a very minimal theme of mostly grey and white. Some will find this boring but we think it’s really clean looking and we can also add pops of colour to brighten up the rooms. At the moment we’ve gone for a grey and yellow themed living room and we love it!

Dining Area

The Kitchen/Diner is one of my favourite rooms in the house, I think we spend most of our time in there cleaning and cooking! Haha. Our dining table and chairs are Charles Eames style from a furniture shop on eBay! We were so impressed with the price and the quality of them when we got them. We got some lovely leaf prints from Etsy for the wall in the dining area, which made that area so much more homely straight away! I have a few little cacti too on our radiator cover from Ikea!

Our kitchen area I am trying to keep clutter free on the worktops! I am so in love with the choices we chose for the kitchen. I love the contrast between the wood and the white. Our clock is from Homebase if you’re looking for one! I think it was about £20. Bargain!

Our bedroom, also one of my favourite rooms as I love sleep and our bed is so comfy! I love that we have a tall headboard, it makes the room feel like a hotel! We got some big decorative cushions as well, the black and white one is from Dunelm and the other is from Oliver Bonas, which is my new favourite shop!

We still have a lot to do, still boxes in one of the rooms that need unpacking haha! We’ve turned our 3rd bedroom into a dressing room and temporary wardrobe until we get some fitted ones sorted for our bedroom. We are wanting to start painting the house when it’s a bit more settled as well as I’m not a fan of almond white paint! That’s the only thing with new builds, why can’t they paint them white?!

Home Accessories

Another of my favourite house finds is these next diffusers! I think quite a lot of people are raving about them at the moment because they are fantastic. We’ve got 3 in the house at the moment and everyone says they love the smell of our home. They start at £15 and my all time favourite is the New York Manhattan special edition. We have this one in our bedroom and the room smells amazing. We also have the Miami one too which my sister said smells like Victoria Secret, so has got one for herself!

Redrow saw that I had been blogging and posting on Instagram of our home journey and asked me to do an interview with them, I was amazed when we popped into the sales office on day and James said that Redrow had been trying to track me down to find what development me and Will were buying at so they could interview me. They sent a photographer to our home who took some photos for us for the post on the website, and they were kind enough to send them onto me for my own personal use too! You can find the post on their website here.

Buying our home together was definitely one of the best things I have ever done. Coming home from work to your very own place is one of the best feelings. I’m surprised how quickly we’ve managed to settle in, and so many people have commented how happy we are.

I am thinking about starting writing some posts on how to save or budget. Maybe help people who are trying to find ways of getting themselves onto the property ladder so let me know if you’d like me to do that!
