Autumn Walk around Fountains Abbey

October 29, 2017

So it’s been nearly 2 months since a last posted, oops. I honestly didn’t think it had been that long! Time is just flying lately, but my favourite time of year has finally arrived! Recently I went for a lovely walk around Fountains Abbey with Will and Frankie, it’s the perfect place for fully embracing autumn in its full form!

Fountains Abbey is located just outside of Ripon. It’s about a 30/40 minute drive from us, and totally worth it. It’s part of the National Trust, or you can pay the admission fee which is £15 for an adult. We became members when we went because it was £30 each for a years membership (as we are under 25), and we know we will visit again within a year so it pays for itself!

Fountains Abbey is such a beautiful place, even more beautiful at this time of year. There are so many lovely autumnal colours, we couldn’t stop taking photos! Frankie absolutely loved it there, it’s great that it’s a dog friendly place. He was able to jump around and chase the leaves and also meet other dogs. It did him the world of good, as he tends to bark at dogs – he seems to be going through a stage of thinking he’s a giant dog when he really isn’t!

We didn’t get to walk in the grounds of the abbey this time as we were more interested in capturing all the trees and leaves. I wanted to get some cute photos of Frankie, but he’s not very photogenic! We did get a couple of gorgeous ones of him though, although he doesn’t look like a puppy anymore! When did he grow up so fast?!

The grounds are huge, we ended up walking for a couple of hours. We could have kept going but Frankie isn’t meant to walk for long as he’s only young so he spent a lot of it being carried. I’m sure we will go back soon to explore some more! We are also excited to try the other places part of the National Trust – I feel like I’ve aged about 10 years. Is this what owning a home and dog do to you?!

Try not to melt of a cuteness overload of those pictures of Frankie! He really melts my heart – even if he is going through his terrible teen stage right now!

I promise it won’t be 2 months before you hear from me again! We have also just planned some exciting trips for next year which I’m wanting to do travel diaries for again.
